My lamp fell over and exploded on Monday. It's still on the floor. This is sort of like living with a dead body. Still there, still not moving.

I feel really sick from eating half a round of cheese at Tarallucci e Vino and a basket of bread slices. Gross.

it's early going to Delaware again this weekend to see Diane at UUUD. I know it from 1) one summer I spent there (i majored in falling asleep and gaining 20 pounds from drinking Country Time lemonade) 2) visiting people from high school 3) going there for swim meets, which were grueling and cold (like championships and the state meet).

i probably would've dropped out if i went to UD. The english classes there sucked. I can't say the same for chemistry...I meant to get Stacey or someone's address for you diane since she was chem/biochem like you. I am pissed off at myself for being unreliable except at work these days. I was talking on skype yesterday with my head on my desk and my eyes closed I was so tired.

definitely going to Delaware next weekend wooooo

and going to Memphis in March. Good thing. i need to get out of the city occasionally. You just feel pushed from place to place sometimes. Maybe it's like that everywhere. I ate some generally good but not amazing tapas, poached eggs over spinach at Morandi, sushi at some place on the upper east side called Wasabi Lobby, a curried cauliflower sandwich the night before at a vegan place called 'Snice, Jack stir-brewed coffee, Joe cappuccino, blood orange tea at Subtle Tea, a vodka cranberry, wine that I didn't bother to remember, a ginger ale and whiskey out of a Garfield cup, warm chocolate cake with strawberries and cinnamon ice cream, too-mild manchego and runny cana de cabra, candied walnuts and fig puree, a croissant from Doma, a croissant from Union Market, and edamame. I'm really bored.

    new york
last weekend i went to a party in my neighborhood with Julia. Then I went to see my friend Sydney's new apartment in the theater district. It is a huge building with hundreds of apartments and white halls like a hotel. The inside smells like a Lean Cuisine mixed with sausage. The roof is awesome although the ugly Hearst building looms over it. The turbines (??) on the roof are fenced in with chainlink covered in fake christmas tree material. My friend lives with a Russian woman who travels around the world and has a 48-inch plasma screen tv. Their fridge was covered in magnets from traveling, many of them the castle Neuschwanstein:

We went to a restaurant called Rue 57. We ate a lot of fries with sauce au poivre. It would've been nice to walk by Central Park but it was too cold. I saw violetyork and some last night. She was hit on by a turkish lesbian restaurant manager although I wasn't there to see it. We had some really horrible "pomegranate martinis." We had sushi on a party boat.

cloverfield! that was pretty scary right!

seriously though that was an enjoyable movie. good thing no monsters in NYC right now. Or at least not in Brooklyn. Sucks to be you, trying to cross the Brooklyn Bridge! No monster would bother with Park Slope! But then again if they nuked Manhattan, Brooklyn would become a kind of Chernobyl. Zombies everywhere, eating flesh, mermaid syndrome, etc.

New Year's was good. I had a conversation about Proust with some man with scotch on his breath. Then I ate some black-eyed peas.

my basil plant died and my bike tire is flat. Today I did laundry; the pool was closed so I sat in the sauna for 20 minutes watching a naked obese woman wander aimlessly in and out of the steam room. Then I went to CTown and bought some family-sized cans of artichokes.

hey nermin if you're reading this are you going to the reunion?

life has been boring. last night I got a free bottle of lambrusco. I went to a vegetarian restaurant and fell off a stool. I played Mario Galaxy at some bar. We watched some stand-up comedy. There is a truck called the Mitzvah truck that is circling manhattan righ tnow (I saw it last night in the west village and tonight on park avenue) broadcasting Hanukkah messages ("Hanukkah is your home, Hanukkah is your light"). I really want to draw comics but I am probably just going to go to sleep.

I HAD A GREAT TIME IN FRANCE

I was in Paris for two days during which time I: went to the Louvre and l'institut du monde arabe, attempted to speak french and failed, went to a deserted bar during la grève, attempted to ride the metro during la grève (the strike) and failed (a woman in the back of the car had a panic attack and started trying to beat the shit out of the people around her), walked back from Stalingrad, missed my train to Lyon, hung out in the Gare de Lyon with all of the backpackers reading, slept on the train from Paris to Lyon.

I only stayed in Lyon for a night, during which time I watched the Beaujolais Nouveau celebrations on TV and then passed out at 7.

The next day I went to Grenoble, which is near the french alps (supposedly you can see a mountain down every street). I ate a lot of amazing food in Grenoble including the best bread, with walnuts in it. I also climbed the hill with the bastille on it, hiked along the side of the highway where there are shantytowns of homeless people, and then on Sunday hiked in the alps in a foot of snow in pumas and jeans (this was fun...we went up a hill and past farmhouses, then through the woods and to the top of the hill/mountain where there was a little cabin for backpackers, then back down in the dark...then we went to a raclette party).

I went to some bars in Grenoble where they played terrible music and the only drinks were wine mixed with liquor that tasted like antifreeze probably tastes.

NOW I AM BACK TIME TO GET SOME WORK DONE

staying in le marais, then over the weekend with my friend in Grenoble. hiking alps!

if you have been to Paris and have recommendations let me know...I want to go to the musée picasso, but other than that I may just walk around (I'll only be there two full days, Tuesday and Wednesday).

this morning I woke up, stretched, sat up, and smacked my head on the ceiling so hard I almost blacked out. it is fun to sleep in a loft bed

can't decide what to do today. I already went walking around my neighborhood but everything was crowded and full of kids or loud bitches wailing about how they have LAWWWBSTAH and PAHTAYYYTOS at New england thanksgivings. kill yeself :D

it is real pretty outdoors and I am wearing a big scarf. I think ima go to the Brooklyn Industries outlet in Williamsburg to get some markdowns and then go drink a shitload of espresso!

What do people who like spiritual books read about? At work I've been reading this 50 Greatest Spiritual Writers anthology, which is like a Reader's Digest of spiritual writing (it has sidebars like, "If u like Mahatma Gandhi then you'll LOVE..." fill in the blank).
